Union 'unhappy' at pension proposals

Workers are unhappy at suggested changes to their pensions
The union representing Rolls-Royce workers in Derby has vowed to fight proposals to cut their pension scheme.

The response follows proposals by the company to change the current scheme.

Senior members of the Amicus union which represent 20,000 workers from Derby and other UK sites met to agree their response to the company's proposals for the pension scheme.

The fund is facing a £1.1bn deficit.

The firm is proposing changes to early retirement benefit and ending the final salary scheme.

Amicus members say the company should instead raise its contribution to the scheme.

The union has asked the company for clarification on a number of issues and will wait for a report later this month before giving a full response.
