House of Lords

The government's thrown in the towel on democratising the House of Lords, we asked the man in charge, Lord Falconer, how the plan to fill the place with nominees fits in with their aspiration to make the Lords "more democratic and representative" as stated in the Labour's 1997 manifesto.

The Hutton Inquiry has been hearing about the notes that Andrew Gilligan made on his electronic personal organiser. One of the computer experts giving evidence says he's found five anomalies.

Sangatte

Our reporter Robin Denselow has been back to Calais to see how things are now that the holding centre at Sangatte is closed.
