A date has been set for another visit to Whitby by the replica of Captain Cook's ship, HM Bark Endeavour.
It will arrive in the port on 13 May 2004 and be open to the public until 13 June.
During this year's visit, the Endeavour attracted 36,677 visitors during its 45 days in Whitby which ended on 8 July.
During the first ten days - which included a bank holiday - it was receiving an average of 1,200 visitors a day.
The ship is a copy of the one which set off to chart New Zealand and Australia in 1768.
It first visited Whitby in 1997 and again in 2002.
Councillor David Jeffels, who is responsible for tourism on Scarborough Borough Council, said: "The ship proved an immensely popular attraction this year.
"I am sure it brought a lot of people and a lot of business to Whitby ."
