Council attempt to encourage more voters
A new scheme is being introduced in Hereford to encourage more people to vote.

The system enables residents to make sure they are included on the electoral register by making one telephone call.

Canvas forms will still be sent out by post but electors will then be able to register their names by telephone.

Callers to the free phone number will also be able to add or remove voters from the register but changing any personal details such as addresses will have to be done by post.

Security breaches are in place and council officials say it is the latest step in modernising the voting process.
