A group of visitors to the Riverside Festival in Nottingham were stranded upside down on Saturday when a ride called The Movie broke down.
Fire crews were called in to use special rescue equipment after reports that 15 people were trapped in a vertical position.
Fairground organisers managed to release everyone without help from firefighters.
Three casualties were treated at the scene by ambulance staff for minor injuries.
