Man dies after fire rescue

A man has died following a fire at a house in Huddersfield.

Emergency services were called to the house in Highgate Lane, Lepton at 0505 BST on Sunday.

Firefighters rescued the man but he died a short time later at Huddersfield Royal Infirmary.

Two women who were also in the house were treated at the scene for the effects of inhaling smoke.

It is thought the fire began in the kitchen.

Investigations into the cause are taking place but there appear to be no suspicious circumstances.
