Behind the scenes: Breakfast film stars
Breakfast presenter Dermot Murnaghan
Dermot tries the Roger Moore look
You'd have thought that by now they'd be blasé about appearing on screen.

But, apparently not.

When Breakfast's presenters Dermot Murnaghan and Rob Bonnet were asked to record some contributions for the forthcoming film Wimbledon, they were tickled pink.

The film - which will be released next Spring - is a comedy about an ageing British tennis player who falls in love with a rising star at the annual Wimbledon tennis tournament.

Five seconds of fame

To add a feeling of reality, Dermot and Rob were asked record news items about the fictitious players, using the BBC's genuine news set and graphics.

"I've done one of two of these things before," Dermot told our Arts Correspondent Rosie Millard.

"You say you're appearing on the silver screen, but actually you're on a tiny screen in the corner of some character's living room - and they cut it down to five seconds."

Despite all that, Dermot admits he's still perfecting his Roger Moore look - with one eyebrow raised.

  • Wimbledon starring Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany, is scheduled for release next year. There's no word yet on whether Dermot and Rob will get star billing above the title.
