Plane comes down at Duxford airfield
Less than three weeks after a historic airplane crashed at an airshow at Duxford airfield, another plane has come down at the site.

The two-seater L39 Albatross came down in fields near the village of Duxford and Ickleton.

The pilot escaped without injury.

The Ministry of Defence began an investigation after two men were killed on 12 July when their historic Fairey Firefly crashed at an air show .

Lieutenant Commander Bill Murton, 45, and Neil Rix, 29, were crewing the vintage naval aircraft as part of the Flying Legends Air Show at Duxford's Imperial War Museum, near Cambridge.

The plane went into a nosedive from which it never recovered.

Air accident investigators called for a safety review at Duxford after a fatal jet crash on the nearby M11 motorway in June last year.

On that occasion, a privately-owned former Soviet air force L-39 military jet trainer came to rest on the motorway after going through the boundary fence at Duxford.
