Police have not ruled out a link between three muggings of elderly people in north Wales within days of each other.

Pensioners have been targeted in the coastal resorts of Kinmel Bay near Rhyl, Colwyn Bay and the Great Orme in Llandudno.

A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said they were keeping "an open mind" about the attacks.

In the most recent incident in Colwyn Bay, a 74-year-old woman received facial injuries and was taken to Glan Clwyd hospital after being attacked.

The mugger pushed her to the ground and snatched her handbag.

The attack happened in daylight at the junction of Hillside Road and Woodland Park on Wednesday.

Pushed to the ground

Police want to trace a boy aged about 16, wearing a cream jumper and light-coloured baseball cap, who was seen running along Hillside Road.

In another incident, a pensioner was attacked earlier on Wednesday afternoon in Kinmel Bay.

The attack happened between 1200BST and 1530BST at the junction of Foryd Road and Woodside Avenue.

The 80-year-old man was pushed to the ground and had money taken from him.

In the first reported incident on Tuesday, a 70-year-old woman had her handbag stolen and was pushed to the ground by two attackers in the Great Orme area of Llandudno.
