Detectives investigating the murder of a Filipino nurse in Oldham have developed a DNA profile of her killer.
Investigators believe the breakthrough will provide the information they need to lead them to the person who killed Debbie Remorozo at her flat last December.
Two officers, who are currently in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, have also uncovered information linked to someone in Oldham officers have not yet spoken to.
The DNA profile has been developed after an examination of Ms Remorozo's flat in Summervale House in Summervale Drive in the town, which has taken several months.
On Thursday Detective Superintendent Steve Heywood said: "From the new information...I am positive that there is someone in Oldham who has information that they have not yet told us.
"I now have a DNA profile from the flat that will assist in proving or disproving someone's involvement in the murder.
"What I need now from the community is a name. I feel that this person with the information is either too scared to come forward or is protecting someone."
There is a £10,000 reward available for information that leads to the conviction of Ms Remorozo's killers.
The officers in Manila return to the UK on Friday, after gathering information through talking to Ms Remorozo's relatives and friends.
Repeatedly stabbed
"From this information we will be able to concentrate our investigations on certain aspects of the enquiry," said Mr Heywood.
"I am confident that we will get the result that we are looking for."
Ms Remorozo, who was a coronary care nurse at the Royal Oldham Hospital, was last seen alive on 7 December, as she walked back to her flat just before 1600 BST.
At 1740 BST the following day, her body was discovered in her flat by friends. She had been assaulted and repeatedly stabbed.
