Murder inquiry after street disturbance

Detectives have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man who was found in the road with serious head injuries.

Officers found the 40-year-old man unconscious in the street on Friday evening, after they were called to a disturbance in Lynmouth Road, in the Henley Green area of Coventry.

The man, who has not been named, was taken to Walsgrave Hospital where he died at about 0800 BST on Saturday, a West Midlands Police spokesman said.

"Police are pursuing active lines of inquiry in or near the Lynmouth Road area," he said.

He said anyone who saw the disturbance should call Coventry CID.
