Body found in canal
Police in Lancashire have begun an investigation after a man's body was found in a canal.

Officers were alerted at 0600 BST on Saturday and recovered the body from the canal near Lancaster.

Lancashire Police said the body was found close to the aqueduct above the River Lune, at Halton.

A spokesman said they were trying to establish how the man ended up in the canal.

"Unfortunately the male was not carrying anything which might identify him," he said.

"So as a result police are asking anyone who might know who he was to contact them at Lancaster."

The man was white, aged in his early 30s, and 5 ft 8 ins tall.

He was wearing a fleece-type sweatshirt, blue jeans and black shoes.
