Nine people were arrested before the pre-season football match between Hull City and Leeds United on Friday.
More than 500 police officers - including some from West Yorkshire - were on duty in Hull after fears that the game would spark violence.
Earlier in the week, magistrates refused a police request for all the pubs and bars in Hull to close for eight hours before the game.
Of the nine people arrested, four are from West Yorkshire and five from Hull.
Public order
Eight have been charged with a variety of public order offences and one man has been charged with assault.
All have been released on bail and will appear at Hull magistrates' court at a later date.
A spokeswoman for Humberside Police said officers regard the policing operation as a success.
"Using intelligence we managed to control events to a high standard," she said.
The game at the KC Stadium ended in a 2-0 victory for Hull.
