Schwarzenegger is plotting his political career
|
A man charged with trespassing on the Los Angeles estate of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger has pleaded innocent to charges.
Richard Sathianathan, 32, was arrested on Sunday after allegedly being found on the film star's Brentwood property the previous day.
Mr Sathianathan, from Canada, has also been charged with prowling, vehicle tampering and petty theft.
He denied all the charges during a court appearance and remains in custody on $50,000 (£31,000) bail.
Police were called to Schwarzenegger's home on Saturday following reports that security had detained a man on the property.
The charges stem from allegations that Mr Sathianathan entered the grounds of the Schwarzenegger home and stole items valued at less than $400 (£278) from one of the family's vehicles.
Political ambitions
Schwarzenegger, 56, shares a four-house complex with his wife, Maria Shriver, and their four children.
He is one of the world's most successful film stars, and his ambitions now lie in becoming governor of California.
But those ambitions have been put on ice after a US appeals court delayed the October "recall" election to next year because of concerns over outdated voting machinery.
He is best-known for his roles in the Terminator films - most recently Terminator 3, which was a box office hit around the world.
