Greek police are investigating the death of an 11-year-old girl who drowned after becoming trapped under a catamaran.
Laura Morgan from Nottinghamshire was out sailing a Hobie 15 Catamaran with two older girls when the boat capsized, near Paleros in western Greece on Thursday afternoon.
She became trapped beneath the boat, and despite rescuers' efforts to revive her, she died later in hospital, according to a spokesperson for holiday company Sunsail.
Laura had been on a two week water sports holiday with her mother and elder sister.
Free girl
The two older girls who were with her at the time were experienced sailors and conditions were described as gentle and good for sailing.
A rescue boat was at the scene within 30 seconds, but failed to free her.
A second boat arrived and rescuers took turns to give her mouth-to-mouth resuscitation while she was still under the water.
The team eventually managed to free her but she was pronounced dead at Levkas hospital at 1700 local time.
Laura had been on a two week Sunsail Watersports Club Holiday with her mother and elder sister.
The family were due to return back to the UK on Monday but it is understood they have flown home early following the tragedy.
