Town receives new fire station
A new fire station has been opened in Cornwall as the latest replacement for the county's ageing fire buildings.

The new building at Helston is the county's ninth community fire station.

It is part of a £40m deal agreed under the government's Private Finance Initiative.

The scheme is paying for 10 new replacement fire stations in Cornwall, as well as improvements at many others.

The facilities at the Helston station have been updated to allow crews to develop new firefighting skills.

The building has also got a women's toilet - as the brigade continues its campaign to attract more female staff into the service.
