Sir Bobby's memorabilia found
Sir Bobby Charlton
The stolen items have been returned to Sir Bobby Charlton
Memorabilia stolen from the home of Manchester United and England legend Sir Bobby Charlton has been found dumped by a river.

The haul included two miniature Premier League trophies, a 1973 Fair Play award, a gold plaque depicting the 1966 World Cup and two Variety Club Silver Heart awards.

Thieves had broken into Mr Charlton's home in Ollerton, Cheshire, in April while he was watching United play Arsenal in London.

The pieces were found by a member of the public near the River Bollin, where it runs beneath the M56 close to Manchester Airport.

A Cheshire Constabulary spokesman said the items were found on 17 July and were returned to Mr Charlton.

The 65-year-old United director is currently away with his team on their US tour.

Manchester United refused to comment.
