Band founder jailed for sex assaults
Derek Cable
Derek Cable was found guilty of 10 counts of indecent assault
The founder of a youth band has been jailed for four years after being convicted of abusing children.

On Wednesday, Derek Cable, 63, of Stowmarket, Suffolk, was found guilty of 10 counts of indecent assault at Norwich Crown Court.

He was also found guilty of eight counts of indecency.

Cable denied abusing five boys aged between 10 and 14 between 1970 and 1983.

The court heard that Cable groomed several boys to be his "sexual playthings" by plying them with treats.

Passing sentence, Judge Paul Downes said: "You groomed your victims ... cigarettes, alcohol, in one case cash was used in order to groom them for your own particular purposes."

Cable was arrested last year after former pupils - now adults - contacted police.
