Robbers kill pet dog

A masked gang burst into a luxury house, attacked three occupants and killed a pet dog before making off with cash.

The five men, all wearing dark clothing and carrying a shotgun and clubs, broke into the house in Stoodley Lane, Eastmoor, Todmorden, late at night.

Police were called at 0015 BST on Wednesday after the men made off in a nearby car with an amount of money.

Three male occupants of the house - aged 19, 31 and 44 - were attacked during the raid along with their family pets.

Police said at least one dog was killed in the violence, while the 44-year-old man has been detained in hospital.

A 42-year-old female occupant was left shocked but unhurt by the ordeal.

West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses.
