Thieves pose as water officials
Two elderly women in Leicestershire have been robbed by men posing as water officials.

Officers believe the same men are responsible for both incidents, near Melton Mowbray, on Wednesday.

In the first robbery, sometime between 1230 BST and 1600BST a woman became aware of a man who had entered her home in Harby.

He asked whether water was coming through her roof.

She later discovered that money had been stolen.

Identity check

In the second incident, between 1500 BST and 1600 BST, two men called at an address in Long Clawson claiming to be water board officials.

They engaged the woman in conversation and then left, the victim later found an amount of money had been taken.

One of the men is described as white, 20 to 25 years old, clean shaven, with short, dark brown hair, brown eyes and wearing a brown jumper.

Police are calling for anyone who knows anything about the incidents to get in touch.

They are also again reminding people to always check the identity of any unexpected caller before allowing them inside.
