Homes evacuated after gas leak
The contractor's site
Contractors are believed to have broken a pipe
More than 150 people have been forced to leave their homes in South Wiltshire after a gas leak.

Contractors ruptured a main pipe in Boscombe Down on Thursday, and families were moved overnight for fear pockets of gas had built up in their homes

Gas company Transco said there was never a risk of an explosion.

But for safety reasons, the police moved 150 people to RAF Boscombe Down and a nearby sports centre.

One local resident told the BBC: "There were dogs and even rabbits in the hall. We had to put up with it the best we could: it's no one's fault."

The families were allowed home on Friday after engineers worked through the night to fix the leak.
