Paddington office fire not suspicious

The fire destroyed several storeys
Police have said that a fire at an office block near Paddington Station was not started deliberately.

Telstar House was home to offices for London Underground and computers used to support the running of trains had only recently been moved out of the building.

But documents and support systems for the administration of the Public Private Partnership of the Tube were destroyed in the fire which started on Tuesday night.

Up to 100 firefighters spent several hours battling flames which started on the seventh floor of the 11-floor building near the west London railway station, according to the London Fire Service.

Road diversions

The fire destroyed the seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th floors before finally being brought under control at about 0240 BST on Wednesday.

Three firefighters were hurt while they searched for a reported missing person.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said nearby offices and homes were evacuated.

There are still some road diversions in place in the Eastbourne Terrace area of Paddington.
