Major changes aim to cut congestion
Important alterations to Derby's Outer Ring Road will begin next week.

It is hoped the work will reduce congestion and improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

The Highways Agency will spend £450,000 on a project which will stop traffic turning off Kingsway into Albany Road.

The aim is to stop Albany Road being used as a short cut and a one-way system will be put in place experimentally for 18 months.

The project will also improve cycle-ways and pedestrian crossings between the A38 and the A52.

The pavement between Kingsway and Uttoxeter New Road will also be widened and converted into a shared cycleway and footpath.

Work starts on Saturday 10 August and is expected to last seven weeks.
