Students
The centre will train people from across the region
A major new development at the University of Lincoln has been officially opened.

Officials say the Institute of Medical Science will carry out research of international importance.

The university has formed the Institute with partners inside and outside the NHS.

As well as carrying out important research it will offer postgraduate training and education for doctors working throughout the east Midlands.

It has grown out of the Institute of Health in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences.

From Friday it will be renamed as the Department for Health and Professional Studies.

It will be responsible for courses ranging from health studies to community care, nursing practice and trauma and disaster management.
