Emergency crews in cow rescue
Up to 40 emergency personnel, including three fire engines, spent more than three hours trying to rescue a cow who became stuck up to her belly in thick mud on Thursday night.

Fourteen firefighters were on hand to help Daisy, near to the boatyard at the River Hamble in Bursledon, Hampshire - but in the end she simply walked out of her sticky situation.

Two crew from Solent Coastguard, the Hamble Rescue Launch manned by three people, the Hamble River Authority, veterinary surgeons and the Harbourmaster were also at the scene between 2100 BST and midnight.

A spokesperson for Solent Coastguard said: "In the end, the teams managed to simply walk Daisy out of the mud.

"But there were almost 40 personnel there.

"Amazingly she was not injured though, and is now back in her field safe and well," he said.
