Translink District Manager Martin Lundy condemned the attack as "mindless vandalism".

"This is a busy bus station and this number of buses off the road could have caused serious disruption to our passengers this morning," he said.

"However we were able to react promptly to secure buses from other bus stations which allowed us to operate services with minimum disruption for the local Antrim community.

"Valuable resources are being used to deal with this incident and Translink thoroughly condemn this kind of antisocial behaviour.

Mr Lundy appealed to the community for help in catching those responsible and said the company's £1,000 reward scheme was available for information leading to a successful prosecution.
