Anonymity in sex cases
John Leslie
John Leslie said he had been "to hell and back" over sex charges
He was told by a judge that he could leave the court without a stain on his character. But TV presenter John Leslie's tearful speech yesterday told a different story.

Like other celebrities who've been through similar experiences, he will fear that some stains cannot so easily be removed.

So - is it time to allow the defendants - as well as the victims - in sex cases to remain anonymous?

This morning, Breakfast debated that knotty issue - and we asked whether John Leslie will be able to salvage his career.

  • Anonymity: we debated the laws on rape with the former Tory Home Affairs spokesman Anne Widdecombe and Shami Chakrabarti, of the campaigning group Liberty.

  • Can Leslie revive his career? We talked to barrister Fenton Bressler and PR guru Mark Borkowski. A recording of this interview will be available shortly
