Bus company hunts new drivers
Truronian buses at the Eden project
The bus company has gained extra funding from Jobcentre Plus
A Cornish bus company is targeting mothers, single parents and older people to swell its ranks of drivers.

Truronian has gained extra funding from Jobcentre Plus to train jobless people to drive buses for their own and other companies.

The bus driver training money has been secured through Objective One grants.

It will be used for people who do not meet the existing criteria.

Older people, lone parents and women are being offered the opportunity to train and gain a passenger carrying vehicle licence.

But it is a scheme which only benefits people who want to work part- time.

The money has so far been used to support small and medium-sized bus operators in Cornwall to address current skill shortages.
