A lab technician from the Black Country has appeared before magistrates in Wolverhampton charged with possessing explosive substances at his home.

James Thomas Hall, from Bowker Street, Willenhall, was arrested on Monday after West Midlands Police raided his bungalow.

The 24-year-old has worked as a lab technician for six years

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at a further hearing next month.

On Wednesday, residents in the street were evacuated from their homes for the third time in three days as army bomb disposal teams carried out controlled explosions on chemicals found at the house.

The quiet cul-de-sac was cordoned off while a large number of containers filled with chemicals were taken out of the bungalow to be safely destroyed in a nearby field.
