A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of his 82-year-old mother.
Michael Torrie, 43, of The Oval, Pocklington was arrested on Sunday after the body of Ivy Torrie was discovered at her home.
A post-mortem examination revealed Mrs Torrie died as a result of injuries sustained in a violent attack.
Mr Torrie was remanded in custody until 24 September by Goole magistrates.
