Police are hunting an armed robber who has raided 13 betting shops in the past two years.

The man, who was captured on CCTV at a William Hill shop in Yiewsley, Middlesex, has stolen £16,000 in total.

Police say he poses as a customer before threatening staff with a firearm concealed in a plastic bag.

The raids have taken place across west London and Hertfordshire.

The first was in April 2001 at Ladbrokes in Hillingdon and the latest was on 8 June this year at Ladbrokes in Hanworth, west London.

Other betting shops targeted by the man include William Hill in Rickmansworth and Admiral World Betting in Ashford.

The suspect is described as white, in his late 40s to early 50s, between 5 ft 7 in and 5 ft 10 in tall, bald with a little grey hair around the temples.

He often wears a baseball cap and sunglasses with very dark lenses.
