Strike vote at packaging firm
Workers at a Derbyshire factory have staged a further walk-out over pay, despite being made a new offer.

Around 40 GMB union members at Amcor Flexibles on Digby Street in Ilkeston are staging a 12 hour strike that will end at 1800 BST on Thursday.

It is the second strike this week.

GMB members say they are paid up to 30% less than other employees doing comparable work for the same company.

Managers at Amcor Flexibles, which makes plastic packaging, hopes workers will accept the new deal.

Andrew Chappell General Manager said: "The company has made a very substantial offer already to members of the GMB, which they are getting to vote on in the next two or three days.

"We believe the offer has already been sent out.

"We have not been advised of any more strike action but that is a possibility.

"I guess it depends on whether the postal vote is accepted or not."
