'Army agent' in deal challenge

A self-confessed Army and police agent has been granted leave to apply for a judicial review at the High Court in Belfast.

The man, known as Kevin Fulton, has alleged the Police Service of Northern Ireland withdrew a settlement nearly a year ago which he said was agreed with the Northern Ireland Office.

Mr Fulton claimed a deal had been reached to give him a property, a new identity and, eventually, some sort of cash settlement.

He claimed the authorities have threatened to stop paying for his accommodation and food on 16 October.

The 42-year-old is originally from Newry, County Down, but is now living under another assumed name at a secret location in England, in fear of being tracked down.

For more than 20 years, he worked undercover for military intelligence, M15 and Customs and Excise while a member of the IRA.

Mr Fulton did not appear at the hearing in Belfast on Tuesday.
