PC Ian Tolmaer is suspended from Merseyside Police
A police constable has appeared in court accused of raping a teenager.

Merseyside Police officer Ian Tolmaer is alleged to have attacked an 18-year-old woman in Liverpool city centre in April.

At Liverpool Crown Court, Tolmaer, 36, from Prescott, Merseyside, spoke only to confirm his name and deny the charge.

The officer appeared in court dressed in a dark blue suit and blue shirt.

The case was adjourned until 7 October when a trial date and venue will be fixed.

Mr Tolmaer, who was remanded on bail, is currently suspended from his job.
