Lotto winner's Beckham dream
David Beckham
Darren Marsden wants to watch David Beckham play in Spain
A lottery jackpot winner has said he wants to spend part of his £2.2m fortune buying a house in Madrid so he can watch David Beckham play football.

But 35-year-old Darren Marsden from Hull, who scooped his share of the top prize in Saturday's draw, said he would first have to get permission from girlfriend, Amanda Evans, as the pair bought the winning ticket together.

The couple have only been together for three months and this weekend was the first time they had jointly played the National Lottery.

Mr Marsden said: "I'm a big David Beckham fan. I'm going to talk to Amanda about buying somewhere in Madrid."

Shopping trip

But he said his first priority was to indulge his passion for Vespa scooters.

"I'm going to buy a couple of fully customised ones first," said Mr Marsden.

"Then, we're going to go shopping, buy a couple of cars, that sort of thing."

Mr Marsden said he had decided to leave his job making shower trays in a local factory.

He said Ms Evans, 42, who lives near Driffield, East Yorkshire, had clearly "brought him luck" .
