Police in Dudley are appealing for help in catching a gunman who has been on the run from prison for ten weeks.
Forty-year-old Anthony Harlow received a life sentence in 1986 after a two-day shooting spree on Dudley's Wrens Nest estate.
Harlow escaped from Sudbury Open Prison, in Leicestershire, on 21 May, where he was serving a life sentence for possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life.
He was dubbed the Laughing Cavalier when he was arrested in 1986.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Gillick of Dudley North police said officers had received intelligence that Harlow was back in the Dudley area.
"Information has now been received to suggest he may be visiting family in Dudley.
'Violent person'
"Anthony Harlow remains at large as an absconded prisoner and we are making strenuous efforts to trace him.
"He's a violent person and he is illegally at large.
"We repeat earlier advice that members of the public should not approach Harlow, who was sentenced to life imprisonment for a serious firearms offence."
Harlow is described as being of medium build and having tattoos on his arms.
Officers searched an address in Hillside Road, Wrens Nest, on Sunday afternoon after receiving information he had been seen in the Dudley area.
Police are warning people not to approach him but to call police with any information about his whereabouts so they can trace him.
