Islanders are being urged to wear cycle helmets after it was revealed that most cyclists in Jersey are not protecting themselves properly when they are riding.
Figures released by Jersey Police show more than 70% of people involved an accident last year were not wearing a cycle helmet.
They have launched a campaign with the head injury charity Headway to try and encourage people to protect themselves.
Andrew Green from Headway, said: "It doesn't matter how careful cyclists are. If they fall over, even at slow speed and bang their head then it's quite likely that they will receive a brain injury.
"A helmet would protect them from most of those injuries and it's such an easy thing to do for as little as £5.50."
