Police have released the name of the man whose body was recovered from a suitcase in the Water of Leith.

Timothy Wallace, 24, had lived in recent weeks in a hostel in Leith.

A post-mortem examination was carried out on Wednesday and police are waiting for the outcome of toxicology tests which will take several days.

The suitcase was recovered from the water on Monday night after two anonymous tip-offs were made to police.

Detectives have renewed their appeal for information about anyone behaving unusually with a suitcase at any point in the past two weeks in The Shore area of Leith.

Earlier this week, officers said they were pursuing a "positive line of inquiry".
