Detectives investigating the murder of Jodi Jones have traced a young blonde woman who was seen near Jodi's home on the night the teenager was killed.
Officers have been appealing for the woman, who was spotted pushing a child in a buggy near the murder scene, to come forward.
Jodi, 14, was stabbed to death in Dalkeith, Midlothian, on Monday, 30 June.
Her bloodied body was found next to a woodland pathway off Easthouses Road about six hours after she left home for the last time to meet her boyfriend.
A spokeswoman for Lothian and Borders Police said the woman, one of several possible eyewitnesses being sought, came forward after returning from holiday.
A number of people told police they had seen her heading in the direction of Easthouses about 20 yards from Jodi's home.
Detectives hope she might have seen Jodi during the hours before she was murdered.
Other witnesses being sought include a man seen walking behind a girl who fitted Jodi's description on the night she died and the drivers of two cars spotted parked in the area.
The pedestrian is described as white, about 20 years old, 5ft 7ins to 5ft 10ins and of stocky build with short, untidy hair.
He may have been wearing a grey hooded top and carrying a rucksack or backpack, police said.
