Woman's death 'was murder'

A murder inquiry has begun into the death of a woman in Lancashire.

The 38-year-old died on Wednesday after an incident in Lancaster.

Police were called to Slyne Road in the city after the woman sustained fatal injuries.

On Thursday Lancashire Police said a man had been arrested in connection with the woman's death.

A police spokeswoman said: "The man is being held in custody in Lancaster and will be questioned later.

"A Home Office pathologist will carry out a post-mortem examination of the woman's body on Thursday."
