Woman and child flee house fire
A mother and daughter have escaped from a fire at their home.

The alarm was raised on Bewcastle Road in Arnold, Nottinghamshire, at 0345 BST on Tuesday.

Officers say the fire started in a pile of building rubbish next to their home and quickly spread to the roof of the property.

The mother and daughter who were asleep at the time, were uninjured but their home has been left badly damaged.

Fire fighters have described whoever started the fire as "mindless".

An investigation is underway.
