Crossbow incident boy dies

A teenage boy has died following an incident with a crossbow at his home.

Ryan McGowan, 15, suffered serious head injuries in the early hours of Monday.

The incident happened at the boy's house in Sunnyside Place, Holytown, Motherwell, Lanarkshire.

He was taken to Monklands District General Hospital in Airdrie but died on Wednesday.

Police said a report would be submitted to the procurator fiscal.

A 16-year-old boy and a man, aged 18, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Tuesday in connection with the incident.
