Police think Tony Karim may have left Hull

Detectives investigating the murder of a refugee in Hull are offering up to £5,000 for information about a man they want to interview.

Sheik Mohamed, originally from Sudan, had been living in Alma Avenue in Hull for three months before his body was found in a shop doorway on Jameson Street at 0136 BST on Thursday 24 July.

A post-mortem examination revealed 29-year-old Mr Mohamed had been violently assaulted.

Police have named Tony Karim, 19, as their prime suspect.

Mr Karim is an Iraqi who speaks good English.

It is feared he has left Hull and a nationwide search for him has been launched.

Officers from the Humberside force have already travelled to the West Midlands and Kent investigating links to those areas.

Detective Superintendent Paul Davison said: "I am determined that I will find Tony Karim. However it is crucial we trace him immediately.

"If somebody knows where Karim is now we urge that person to come forward and tell us.

"They can expect up to £5,000 for that information if it leads to an arrest."
