Mother jailed over karaoke fight
A woman from west Cumbria has been sent to prison for six months attacking a pub landlady.

The incident happened at the Ancient Mariner pub in Workington, which was destroyed by fire earlier this year.

Debbie Morton, 24, from Eskdale Crescent in Workington admitted causing actual bodily harm to Elizabeth Law in January 2003.

The attack, which left Mrs Law with facial injuries and needing four stitches to her eye, happened following an argument about a karaoke machine.

Morton, who was already the subject of a 240 hour community service order imposed for another conviction of assault, also admitted possessing cannabis and tamazepam.

She has a baby and was due to marry her partner in September.
