Bus drivers reject pay offer

Drivers rejected the pay offer
Bus drivers in Nottingham say they could resort to industrial action after rejecting a pay offer by their employer.

Nottingham City Transport had hoped its offer of a 10% pay rise for existing staff and 17% for new starters would help fill its acute driver shortage.

But members of the Transport and General Workers Union rejected the offer by a majority of over 100 votes.

They say it is not as attractive as it looks because it is split over two years.

They are also unhappy that increases would not take effect until September.

The union says it is waiting for a better offer and, if none comes, it will ballot drivers over industrial action next month.

Nottingham City Transport is hopeful the issue can be resolved.
