Gemma Brookfield is banned from keeping horses for life
The owner of a Gloucestershire stables has been convicted of attacking several ponies in her care.

The animals had been attacked on various occasions over the last two years at the Thistleridge Natives riding stables near Hillesley.

Owner Gemma Brookfield had appealed for help in finding the attacker on BBC Points West.

On Monday, she admitted two charges of deliberately mutilating two ponies, and asked Stroud magistrates to take three other offences into account.

She had slashed the ponies with a Stanley knife blade.

The court was told that no community punishment order would be imposed because of Brookfield's emotional state.

Pc Dave Croot of Gloucestershire Police, who has dealt with the case for the past three years, told the BBC: "Only the most recent attacks could be considered due to legal guidelines.

"In relation to other attacks at the farm, we are not currently looking for anyone else."

Brookfield was banned for life from keeping horses and ponies.
