'Abuse nurse' remains struck off
Summerhill Nursing Home
The incidents took place at the Summerhill care home in Kendal
A nurse, who was struck off after admitting abusing women at a Cumbria care home, has failed in his attempt to have the decision overturned.

Henry Williams, 62, was accused of behaving in an indecent manner while he worked at the nursing home in Kendal.

Mr Williams, from Kent's Bank, was struck off in July 2001 after admitting five allegations of misconduct.

He worked nine shifts at the Summerhill Nursing and residential home in Kendal between November 1999 and January 2000.

At the time, the Nursing and Midwifery Council heard he had touched residents and made in appropriate comments.

On Monday, he admitted to the council's professional conduct committee in London, that he had done nothing to keep his nursing knowledge up to date and would require supervision if he found employment as a nurse.

In refusing to re-register Mr Williams, the committee chairman Jonathon Asbridge, told him he had "failed to demonstrate that he had reflected on the charges and the effect they have had on the elderly patients".

When Mr Williams was struck off, he was told his behaviour was "unworthy of a nurse" and that he had abused his relationship with the home's elderly and vulnerable clients.
