A man has been arrested in connection with a suspicious fire in which an elderly woman died.
The woman, who has not been named by police, was found dead amid the rubble of a burned-out house in Upleadon, near Newent, Gloucestershire, on Wednesday morning.
Firefighters were called to Alford Farm in Forge Lane at 0406 BST, but despite spending several hours tackling the fierce flames, which caused the roof and walls of the building to collapse, they were unable to save the woman.
A spokeswoman for Gloucestershire Police said: "We have arrested a man in connection with the fire at Upleadon.
"He is currently being questioned at Gloucester police station."
Police say that although the cause of the fire has yet to be established it is being treated as "doubtful".
