Three men rescued from fire
Firefighters had to break into a flat in Nottingham on Saturday morning to reach three young men who were overcome by smoke.

Fire crews were called to Digby Court on Park Street, New Lenton, at 0140 BST after a neighbour raised the alarm.

Smoke was seen coming from the flat, which is on the third floor.

Firefighters had to break-in through the front door and found three young men who had fallen asleep in the lounge.

The smoke was coming from a fire in the kitchen and the men were led to safety.

A fire officer said the men had a lucky escape because the flat did not have a smoke alarm fitted.
