A man is in intensive care after being punched, kicked and stamped-on during a violent assault, police have said.
Three men were involved in a row near the beach on Foreshore Road, Scarborough, at 2200 BST on Friday.
The injured man, who is in his 30s, was taken to Scarborough General Hospital for treatment.
A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A police spokesman said the Foreshore was very busy and any witnesses should come forward.
